Oct. 18 - 22

Here are some of the things we worked on this week:

Reading - We continue to practice strategies for reading everyday!

Writing - We talked about adverbs and how they work well with verbs.  An adverb often ends with ly and explains how the subject is doing the action.  For example: The spider spun his web strategically in the tree.
- strategically would be the adverb.  It is telling us how the spider spun his web.

Math - We learned about fact families.  In a fact family there are only 3 numbers.  Each fact family can create two addition sentences and two subtraction sentences.

Science - We learned that spiders are arachnids and they only have two body parts; a cephalothorax and abdomen.  We also talked about more of the body parts of a spider.  We learned that spiders webs are very strong and this is an adaptation for them to help them survive in the wild.

Social Studies - We learned more about Meteghan, Nova Scotia:
- Their climate is not too hot and not too cold.
- Their spring and fall are cool and rainy.
- It rains or snows 7 - 13 times/month.
- The establishment of Meteghan was based on:
1. They have lots of trees for logging to build houses and boats.
2. The Atlantic ocean for fishing.
3. Meteghan River for fishing and fresh water.
4. Warm Climate

Have a good weekend :-)
