We had another great week in Grade 2. Here is a brief summary of what we worked on:
Reading - We are learning some strategies on what to do if we come to a word we do not know. We continue to learn and practice our letter sounds.
Writing - We practiced using our 5 senses plus 1 (feelings) to write a walking story. We learned that a story needs a beginning, middle and end. To start our walking story we need a sentence to introduce our topic and a sentence at the end to let the reader know that we are done.
Math - We learned a fun game called, "Guess My Number". For this game we use a 100's chart and then we need to ask yes or no questions to figure out which number was secretly written down. We also each got a set of power of 10 cards to keep in our desk to practice making 10's.
Science - We continued talking about small crawling and flying animals needs and what they need to survive in the wild.
Social Studies - We took a pretend flight to Meteghan, Nova and saw the land and ocean there. Our Teacher's Pet field trip taught us a lot about the Acadian people who live there. Ask me to tell you a few things about them.
